In a familiar and enjoyable environment you will learn how to prepare 3 typical vegetarian or naturally vegan Sicilian recipes. Panelle is a typical appetizer from Palermo, it is a simple but very tasty dish, we will make it following the old family recipe. I will also reveal my family tricks to make the best fresh homemade pasta, starting from the dough made of water and flour. Handmade cavatelli pasta will be paired with an excellent seasonal sauce you will be told how to prepare. Finally, we will close with the typical dessert par excellence, tiramisu, prepared with love following the family recipe, and we will end our experience with a good coffee. A delicious journey among the most beloved dishes of Sicilian cuisine awaits you!

By joining this food experience you will have the opportunity to really enjoy the Sicilian cuisine at a deeper and more personal level while sitting at my table dining with my family in my home in the heart of Palermo’s historic center just a stone’s throw away from the Opera Housa, the Teatro Massimo.

We will end a dish altogether and I will show you for example how to shape a typical fresh pasta or how to prepare a typical appetizer such as cacio all’argentiera, a Palermo city traditional way of cooking cheese. I will also entertain you by telling you stories and anecdotes of dishes I will propose. We will taste together a three-course menu, all homemade, which will be served with excellent local wine and warm Sicilian hospitality.

This experience is a ‘must do’ in Italy, and the beautiful setting and expert instructors at Cooking Italy in Rome make this the place to do your Italian cooking class. I don’t usually enjoy cooking but I totally enjoyed this, and the pasta we made was outstanding.

We took the pasta making class with our two boys aged 10 and 12 and we had such a great time. Luca was a friendly, fun and engaging teacher and our whole group were lovely. We made two types of pasta by hand at a relaxed pace, the boys could easily follow along and had such a good time, which meant we did too.
